Favorite Fridays: Chick Flicks!!

Well, it's looking like my work schedule is only going to allow me to post once or twice a week. I frequently work overtime, so unless I have extra time on the days that I work, I usually only have time to post on my days off. Because of this, I will try to do a couple of posts on the days that I am able to post something. I'm still trying to figure out if there's someway that I can write a post ahead of time and then schedule it to post at a certain time. Do any of you know how to do this?

Because I have so many favorite movies, I've decided to divide them into genres for Favorite Fridays. My family owns a lot of movies, mainly because for a few years we didn't have satellite or cable, and also to ensure that there would always be something good for us to watch so we don't end up watching something that we shouldn't simply because we have nothing else to watch.

One of my favorite genres of movies is chick flicks! You know, the girl-meets-guy, girl-and-guy-fall-in-love type? Yes, I will admit, I'm very much a romantic at heart. I enjoy a good love story, whether in a book or a movie, so here's a few of my favorites:

1. First Daughter-I love this movie!! It's cute, hilarious, and oh-so-good!!! "Once Upon A Time there lived a lovely girl named Samantha. She had everything she could possibly wish for, and lived in a beautiful white house. The White House. First Daughter Samantha Mackenzie is a sheltered young woman who just wants a normal school experience, away from the influence of her parents. Only trouble is, her dad is the President of the United States! But nothing will stop Samantha, so, under Secret Service surveillance and a nonstop media glare, she meets-and falls hard for-a handsome student who has a secret existence of his own."
Note: this movie does have a couple of scenes that you may want to fast forward-a pool party scene (girls in bikinis, guys with no shirts on, and guys dancing suggestively around a girl) and a bar scene which involves Samantha wearing a very short pair of shorts, and a tight top.

2. Hitch-this movie is hilarious!! If you want a romance that will make you laugh, then watch Hitch. "Smooth and sexy Alex "Hitch" Hitchens (Will Smith) is the master of seduction in this charming romantic comedy. His specialty? Helping clueless clients make a great first impression so they not only get to the second date, but make someone fall for them. When a gossip reporter (Eva Mendes) starts nosing around his business, however, Hitch finds himself out of moves as he forgets all his lessons and has to figure out a whole new strategy to love."
Note: This movie is rated PG-13 for a reason. While there are no necessarily "bad" scenes, I would not recommend watching it with kids around.

3. The Last Song-This is near the top of my all-time favorite movies list. As are most movies based on Nicholas Spark's novels, it is a tearjerker, so have a box of tissues nearby!! "17-year-old Ronnie Miller is a rebellious former piano prodigy who doesn't hide her hostility after being sent off to spend the summer in Georgia with her estranged father. Rebuffing her dad's attempts to reconnect, the aloof Ronnie begins to thaw when she meets beach volleyballer Will Blakelee." Kinda a poor summary, I know, but it's the best one I could find. Watch it for yourself, and you'll find that you'll want to watch it again and again!!!
Note: This movie is very clean, and I would have no problems watching it with pre-teens or teens.

4. A Walk to Remember-Also based on a Nicholas Spark's novel, this is another one of my all-time favorites. Don't forget to grab another box of tissues before watching it! "When bad boy Landon is cast opposite the campus bookworm in a school play, no one expects romance to bloom. Despite peer pressure and strict parents, the newly minted lovebirds forge a heartfelt bond ... until tragedy tears them apart."
Note: This movie is also very clean, and has a bit of a religious theme to it.

5. Sweet Home Alabama-this movie starts one of my favorite actresses, Reese Witherspoon, so of course, it is near the top of my list of my favorites. Funny, cute, and touching, I find myself wanting to watch it again and again. "Abandoning her rural Alabama background and high school-sweetheart husband in favor of Manhattan's glamorous social circles, Melanie Smooter-Perry adopts a chicer surname to go with her new life. As career woman Melanie Carmichael, she attracts a handsome Park Avenue boyfriend…but then he pops the question, forcing Melanie to go down South and finally get her divorce papers signed."
Note: This movie is rated PG-13 for a reason, and I wouldn't recommend watching it with kids or young teens.

6. Father of the Bride (1991)-a very cute movie that is great for the whole family! If you've ever been the father-, mother-, brother-, or sister-of-the-bride, you will definitely find this movie hilarious!! "In this hilarious update of the much-loved Hollywood classic, George Banks is the befuddled father who has a hard time letting go of his daughter when she unexpectedly announces her plans to wed."
Note: This movie is great for the while family to watch, and very clean.

7. Runaway Bride-This movie is hilarious!!! Go ahead, watch it; if you like chick flicks, I promise you will love this movie! "Commitment-phobic bride-to-be Maggie Carpenter has already left three men at the altar when sexist newspaper columnist Ike Graham writes an offensive, inaccurate story about her -- and will get fired unless he talks to her in person. But as the "Runaway Bride" prepares for her fourth wedding attempt, Graham discovers what her beaus see in her -- and risks becoming the next groom."
Note: Another very clean movie that the whole family can watch and enjoy.

8. 50 First Dates-Another romantic comedy, I enjoy watching this when I need a good laugh! "Henry is a player skilled at seducing women. But when this veterinarian meets Lucy, a girl with a quirky problem when it comes to total recall, he realizes it's possible to fall in love all over again … and again, and again. That's because the delightful Lucy has no short-term memory, so Henry must woo her day after day until he finally sweeps her off her feet.
Note: I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone under the age of 16. Some of the dialogue is rather suggestive.

9. My Best Friend's Wedding-Another great chic flick, but without the usual ending. "Food writer Julianne Potter panics when she receives word that her longtime platonic pal, Michael, is finally getting hitched, to a debutante named Kimberly. Realizing her true feelings for Michael, Julianne enlists assistance from her gay companion and sets out to sabotage the wedding, making a last-minute play for her man -- to the rhythm of Burt Bacharach tunes."
Note: The movie is pretty clean, but I wouldn't recommend watching it with anyone younger than 13.

10. The Wedding Planner-A very cute movie, with just the right of comedy mixed in to keep it entertaining. " Mary Fiore, San Francisco's premiere wedding planner, is rescued from an accident by the man of her dreams, pediatrician Steve Edison, only to find he is the fiancĂ© of her latest client, wealthy Fran Donnolly. As Mary continues making the wedding arrangements, she and Steve are put into a string of uncomfortable situations that force them to face their mutual attraction."
Note: Once again, it's pretty clean, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone younger than 13.

Thrifty Thursday (A Day Late!)

I know, I know, it's Friday. But, since I was too busy lazy to post this yesterday, and I'm way too excited to be able to wait till next Thursday to post it, I'm posting it today.

My new favorite stores are Goodwill and Walmart. Okay, okay, maybe not my NEW favorite, seeing as I've always loved Goodwill, and Walmart is every college student's favorite store, especially when your college is in a podunk little town where Walmart is the only place to go for fun (I might be exaggerating just a little...), but seriously, they are my two favorite stores. You can find some awesome stuff there for really cheap prices.

Now you may be thinking, "yeah, yeah, we already know all this, so why are you telling us?" Well, did you know that Walmart has a fabulous selection of clearance items in housewares? At least the Walmart here does. Thanks to the clearance section, I have been able to save a ton of money on items for my apartment. Here's a picture of everything I've gotten in the past two days:
(not pictured: Black 7 Decker 5 cup coffee maker)

From Walmart Clearance:

Mainstays Stoneware Canister Set-$15.97 Probably one of my favorite purchases!! I wasn't really looking for these, but when I saw them in the clearance section, I couldn't resist getting them!! They'll be really nice for storing flour, sugar, etc. Original Price: Unknown. Amount Saved: Approx. $15
HomeTrends Sacco 16 piece Dinnerware-$15.99 Yes, you read that right, just $16!!! That's just $1 per piece! You can't get much cheaper than that! They're a beautiful shade of brown, and exactly what I was looking for!! (I know the tag on the box says $25.95, but that's only because I peeled off the clearance sticker that was on there when I bought them to see how much they were originally marked down to.) Original Price: Unknown, but approx. $30. Amount Saved: around $14 or $15.
(Sorry about the blurriness...)

Shower Curtain ($6), Bath Mat ($5), Trashcan, Toothbrush Holder, and Soap Dispenser ($6 for the set)-$17 total Since these all match, and none of them are really that exciting, I figured I'd combine them all into one. I don't have an individual picture of them, but they are pictured in the top picture. They're all green and yellow polka dots, which match the brown theme  I was planning on doing in the bathroom. The shower curtains attaches to the shower rod itself, so there's no need for hooks, and it's plastic, so it can serve as the liner, too. Original Price: Unknown. Amount Saved: Approx. $14

Corningware French White 10-piece Bakeware Set-$25.00 The set includes four casserole dishes of various sizes, each with a plastic lid, and two of them with a glass lid. I have a feeling I'll probably use these a lot for making casseroles and such! Original Price: $49.99. Amount Saved: $24.99.

2 Sets of Kitchen Towels-$2.50 for set of 3 Total Price: $5 I saw these towels and fell in love with them!! My kitchen color is brown, too (can you tell that I love brown?) and these adorable turquoise, green, and blue striped towels will look absolutely adorable! Original Price-$6 for set of 3 Amount saved-$7

Ziploc Food Storage Containers-$1.75 for set of 4 I couldn't pass these up when I saw them. Food storage containers are going to be a must for me, not just because I pack my lunch for work everyday, but also because I'm used to cooking for a minimum of 3 people; it's going to be hard to get used to cooking for just 1 person, so I'm probably going to have a lot of leftovers at first. I'm seriously considering going back to get some more. Original Price: approx. $5 Amount Saved: Approx. $4.15

From Walmart Rollbacks:

Wearever 12 pc. Cookware Set-$35 The set included a 5qt. dutch oven, 2 qt. covered sauce pan, 8" & 10" fry pans, and a 10.25" griddle. It also included cooking a spatula, slotted spoon, noodle spoon, and ladle. I'll probably end up buying another smaller sauce pan as well, just so that I'll have two. Original Price: $49.00 Amount Saved: $15 (includes Mom's 10% employee discount)

From Goodwill:

GE 0.7 cu. ft. Microwave Oven-$14.98 I was expecting to have to pay upwards of $50 for a microwave (something that I was NOT looking forward to), so when I saw this at Goodwill, I couldn't pass it up. It's not in the best condition, as it was a couple of dents in it, but it works, so I could really care less what it looks like. Original Price-$59.97 on Walmart.com Amount Saved: $34.99

Toshiba DVD Player-$14 I wasn't planning on getting a DVD player right away, but when I saw this at Goodwill, I couldn't pass it up. Now I just need a tv... Original Price: Approx. $30 Amount Saved: Approx. $16
Black & Decker 5-cup Coffee Maker-$4 I wanted a coffee maker, but that was on my "want, but don't need" list, and seeing as neither of my parents drink coffee, I wasn't expecting to receive it as a birthday or Christmas gift, either. It was one of those items that I figured I'd get eventually, but not before I moved in. Well, when I saw one for Goodwill for $4, I couldn't pass it up!! It's even programmable, so I can have coffee waiting for me when I wake up in the evening (yes, I'm one of those weird people who works at night and sleeps during the day)!! Original Price-$38.80 (amazon.com price) Amount saved: $34.80

Other Walmart Purchases:
These weren't clearance or rollback, but most of them were $1, so they were still a very good deal.

(2) Pitchers-$1 each These will be perfect for putting lemonade, iced tea, or juice in.

Plastic Tumblers (set of 4)-$1 As of right now, I only have the coffee cups that came with my dishes to put drinks in, so these will be nice for using for water glasses.

Plastic Bowls (set of 4)-$1 I love cereal and applesauce and such, so I use a lot of bowls. I figured that these will be a much cheaper (and greener) alternative to using disposable bowls.

Measuring cups and spoons-$.88 I already had a set of measuring spoons, so I was hoping to find a set of measuring cups without the measuring spoons, but the only ones I could find were over $3 (crazy, I know!), so I went ahead and got the set. I know how easy it is to lose measuring spoons, so I figure it can't hurt to have two sets!

Dishcloths (set of 12)-$2 The colors will match everything else that I have for my kitchen, and since they were such a good price, I couldn't pass them up.

Flatware (48 piece)-$9.99 The set included a drawer organizer, so it was a really good deal! I wasn't really wanting such a big set, but the smaller sets were the same price and didn't include the drawer organizer.

Black & Decker Extra-tall Can Opener-$11.47 This was a bit more than I wanted to spend for a can opener, but my parents have the same one, and it's one of the few can openers we've had that's worked for more than just a couple months (we've had it for a few years now) so i figured I'd go ahead and get it.

Total Spent: $177.03 Total Saved: $180.93

I'm thrilled that I saved more than I spent!! I had just over $500 budgeted to spend on everything that I need before I can move into my apartment, and this is over half of that list, so I think I'm doing pretty good! The only two big ticket items I have left to buy are a couch or futon (one that looks like a catch; not one of those cheap metal ones!) and a vacuum. I'll be keeping an eye out for those at Goodwill and garage sales, but if I can't find them there, I have my eye on one of each of these at Walmart, and I'd still come in well below budget.

Favorite Fridays: Christian Fiction Authors

I have been rather absent lately...life got in the way! We worked overtime at work last week, and that throws my whole week off. Hopefully we are done with overtime for a little while, anyways, so I will be able to be more regular with blog posting.

I love books. I would read all the time if I could, but work and real life sometimes get in the way!! Today I want to share with you some of my all-time favorite Christin fiction authors.

  1. Terri Blackstock-AMAZING AUTHOR. That sums Terri up in two words. She has written my all-time favorite series, The Restoration Series, as well as The Newpointe 911 series, another of my favorites. If you had to pick just one series to read, written by any author, I would tell you to read the Restoration Series. It revolves around one family who is forced to re-evaluate their lifestyle when the entire twenty-first century, high-tech planet is swept back to the age before electricity. Each books presents new trials and new learning experiences for them. It alos makes you really think about just how much we depend on all our high-tech devices, such as cell phones, television, computers, video games, cars, etc. After picking up and reading just the first few chapters of the first book in the series, Last Light, I guarantee that you will not want to put it down, and when it's over, you'll want to read the three other books in the series as well.
  2. Dee Henderson-I absolutely ADORE Dee Henderson's books. I love mysteries, suspense & romance, and she combines these to make some really good books. She has written two series, The O'Malley Series, which is about a "family" (they adopted each other) of 7, all of whom have different jobs in various areas of law enforcement, ranging from negotiator to forensic to paramedic. The series includes 7 books, 6 of them about the O'Malley's, and a 7th a prequel that ties into the series. Her other series is Uncommon Hereos. There are four (well, technically 3, one book that used to be in the series was retitled and no longer included in the series listing) books in this series about men and women in our Armed Forces. Excellent books, and I really encourage you to read these, as well as her four independent novels.
  3. Karen Kingsbury-Karen has written several books that I have read over and over again. She's written 6 multi-book series, 4 two-book series, and numerous independent novels. Her favorite series of mine is the 9/11 series, which is about several people who were directly affected by the September 11 tragedies. Several of her books have been, or are being, made into movies, such as Like Dandelion Dust, Missy's Murder, A Thousand Tomorrow's, and Gideon's Gifts. Her books are always very encouraging and uplifting.
  4.  Angela Hunt-Angela has authored numerous books, including one of my favorites, The Note, which has also been made into a movie. Her novels are all very thought-provoking and deal with many touchy subjects that usually aren't covered by Christian authors. My favorite book of hers is titled The Justice. It is about a woman Vice President of the United States who quickly finds herself as the first woman President when the President dies unexpectedly. Added to the mix is her former lover, a brilliant lawyer whom she nominates as a Supreme Court Justice. All of this makes for one very interesting book!
  5. Beverly Lewis-(note: this is a link to her page on the Christian Book Distributors website. As far as I can tell, she doesn't have a website of her own.) Beverly has authored numerous novels about the Amish, all of which are excellent books. She has written 6 (not totally positve on that number) different series, as well as several children's books. If you're looking for an easy, relaxing book to read, I encourage you to choose one of hers. I also highly recommend her children's books, some of which I read when I was younger. They're excellent books, your children will love them, and best of all, you don't have to worry about the content of them!
  6. Janette Oke-Janette has written many historical novels, most of them set during the pioneer era in America. One of her series, the Love Comes Softly series, probably the first Christian Fiction series I ever read, has been made into a series of movies. Even if you watched the movies and didn't like them, I encourage you to  read the books. The movies and books are very different, and, in my opinion, the books are much, much better.
Well, that includes this Favorite Friday post. I know, I know, 6 is an odd number to end on, but for sake of time and space, I'm going to end it there. Between the six of these authors, you'll have enough choices in books to keep you busy for quite awhile!

Tasty Tuesdays

I LOVE to cook! I make most of the meals here at home because Mom hates to cook. This gives me a chance to try a lot of different recipes and to make up some of my own. Some of them turn out great, and others, I'll admit, turn out not so great...
I thought that I'd share some of my favorite recipes with all of you here, so that you can try them and enjoy them, too!!

Cheddar-Alfredo Broccoli

1 pkg. Birdseye Steamfresh brocolli (or any other broccoli you have on hand)
2-3 slices cheddar cheese (depending how cheesy you like your broccoli; I used two)
1/3 c. Alfredo Sauce
Fix broccoli according to package directions, then place cheese on top. Microwave for approximately 30 seconds, just long enough to get the cheese a little melty. Add alfredo sauce, microwave an additional 45 seconds, stir. Serve and enjoy!!
*I just fixed this the other night, and we all enjoyed it! We eat a lot of broccoli because it's one of the few vegetables that we all like, and it was a nice change from just fixing it regularly.

Chicken in Savory Lemon Sauce

1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley or 1 tsp. dried parsley flakes
1 tbsp. lemon juice ( I used 3/4 tbsp because Mom & Dad aren't huge lemon fans)
1/2 tsp. paprika
4 lemon slices (optional)

Spray a skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat for 1 minute. Add chicken and cook till well-browned on both sides. Add the soup, water, parsley, lemon juice, and paprika to the skillet. Heat to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook 5 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through. Top with lemon slices.
*Like I said, my parents aren't big lemon fans, but they do enjoy this dish when I fix it. I usually go light on the paprika and add a dash of thyme and sage just to give it a little more flavor than just the lemon.

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I have!! I look forward to sharing more recipes with you!!!

One Thousand Gifts

Thanking God for the many gifts that He has given me...

  1. Getting to hold my three month old second cousin yesterday.
  2. Celebrating my great-grandma's 90th (yes, 90th!!) birthday!
  3. Finding out that a close loved one's cancer is not as bad as originally feared.
  4. Encouraging friends who make a long night at work so much better!!
  5. A hairstylist who's always cheerful and makes my morning brighter after a long night of work.

I encourage you to go check out Ann Voskamp's blog if you haven't already!! I always come away feeling encouraged after reading her blog! She's written a book, titled One Thousand Gifts, that, from what I've heard, is an excellent book. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to read it yet, because the hold list for it at my library is super long! I'm number 56, and that's after requesting it two weeks ago!! I may have to go buy my own copy if I want to read it anytime soon...

52 Weeks of Orgainizing

I just recently started reading The Organizing Junkie blog and love it so far!! This year she is doing a 52 weeks of organizing challenge, and I've decided to join up. Any of you who know me well know that I am not the most organized person in the world, and that I need all the help I can get! I'm hoping that this challenge will help me get (and stay!) motivated.

The Organizing Junkie has even made it easy for you to get started! She's created a pdf list so that you can write down what you want to accomplish each week. It makes it easy to stay on track and motivated because you see exactly what you want to accomplish broken down by week. It doesn't seem quite so overwhelming this way! I haven't finished my list yet, but here's what I have so far:

  1. Organize my closets/sort through my clothes
  2. Organize my dressers/finish sorting through clothes
  3. Unpack my spring/summer clothes & pack away my winter clothes
  4. Organize my desk area
  5. Organize my bed/nightstand area
  6. Organize my decorations/seasonal items
  7. Organize my books
  8. Figure out better storage for items in my room
  9. Organize my car
  10. Organize the guest bedroom
  11. Organize my scrapbooking materials
  12. Organize my electronics & photography equipment
  13. Organize Mom's sewing room
  14. Organize the workshop
  15. Organize the catch-all room in the basement (what used to be the play room)
  16. Organize the game room
  17. Organize the living room
  18. Organize the kitchen (with Mom!)
  19. Organize the laundry room
  20. Organize the family room (with Mom & Dad!)
There's the first twenty items on my list. I'm not planning on filling out the whole list, because I'm hoping that by the time the 52 weeks are up I'll be in my own apartment, which will involve even more organizing. So far I have covered all the way through August; I'll probably do eight more weeks before I stop, since I highly doubt I'll be in an apartment before October.

I'll be tackling my first project this coming week, and will post before and after pictures...be prepared, though, the before pictures will probably be a little scary!

Single Saturdays

Welcome to the first Single Saturday! In this season of life, God has seen fit for me to be single, so I thought that I would take one or two Saturdays out of the month to encourage any of my blog readers who may also be in a season of singleness. I will use each Single Saturday to share a poem, a post from another blog, or some of my own thoughts on being single.

This week I'd like to share with you one of my favorite poems. This poem always reminds me to trust in God for my future, and not try to figure out what the future has for me.

Just as He Unfolds the Rose
It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God’s design,
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I,
The flower God opens so sweetly,
In my hands would fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God’s design,
Then how can I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I’ll trust Him for His leading
Each moment of every day
And I’ll look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
For the pathway that lies before me
My heavenly Father knows
I’ll trust Him to unfold the moments
Just as He unfolds the rose.
~Anonymous.

I love being single. I am enjoying this season in my life right now, and have no desire to be in a relationship right now. I feel that as a single lady, I can do more, and different, things than if I were married. I've found many opportunities for ministry where I have more of an influence as a single lady than if I were married. Of course, there are areas for ministry that are not open to me because of my singleness, but I am okay with that.

It's taken me a few years, and a few almost-relationships for me to get where I am now. I used to hate being single, and desire nothing more than to be in a relationship with somebody, but, eventually, I learned the hard way that it is possible, and better, to be content to be single.

I encourage any of you single young ladies to check out the Young Ladies Christian Fellowship. I mentioned it in my previous post, but I want to mention it again because they have a ton of articles on singleness, waiting, and being content. There are a few others out there, too, but I have found this to be the one I like best.

Well, that's it for the first Single Saturday...short and sweet!! I hope you enjoyed it, and that you'll come back to read my other posts as well!

Favorite Fridays

"Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens. Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, Brown paper packages tied up with string; these are a few of my favorite things..."

Okay, okay, I'll spare your ears now!! Anyways welcome to "Favorite Fridays." Each Friday, I'm going to do a post featuring some of my favorite things, such as favorite books, movies, recipes, etc.

This week, I want to share with you some of my favorite blogs. I know that I have these listed over in the sidebar of my blog, but this way you get to learn a little bit more about them.

One of my favorite blogs to read is From: The Little Pink House. Gretchen Acheson, the writer of this blog, lives in a little house (that was once pink, hence, the name) on a farm with her husband and her two adorable little girls, with another baby on the way. She posts about farm life, her girls, her farmer, and life in general.

Another of my favorites, which is where I first found Gretchen several years ago, before she was married, is Young Ladies Christian Fellowship. This is a website that was originally created as a place for single women, and most of the articles were about singleness, waiting, and other applicable things for single young ladies. However, as the team members grew older and got married, that has changed. Now there are articles both for single women and for those who are married. I find that I miss the days where it was all about singleness, as I am single, but it's still a great website with great articles written by many different Christian young ladies.

One of my favorite blogs to go to for recipes, photography tips, and a good laugh is The Pioneer Woman. Ree Drumond, the writer of this wonderful blog, lives on a ranch with her Malboro Man,  her four children, and their bassett hound, Charlie. She has written the story of how she and Malboro Man met, entitled From Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. It is published online on her blog and, as of February 2011, is also available in book form which includes some extra material. I encourage you to go on over there, read some of her hilarious posts (she believes in keeping it real, and it shows in her posts!), browse through her absolutely  amazing recipes, and don't forget to check out the Charlie archives!!! Disclaimer: She is not a Christian, and does not claim to be one, so you may want to use discretion when reading her posts! Also, there are some, ah, rather delicate, scenes in From Back Heels to Tractor Wheels that you'll want to skip over...

The last one, my absolute favorite, is relatively new, but features, among others, the writers from two of my other favorite blogs, Ashleigh Baker from Heart & Home, Elizabeth Esther from ElizabethEsther.com. This blog is called A Deeper Story. They discuss many things over there, most of them subjects that Christians usually stray away from talking about, such as homosexuals, anorexia, alcoholism, and other such topics. Go take a look, and I"m sure you'll find that you enjoy the writings of these wonderful ladies. I find, as I'm sure you will, that so much of what they discuss challenges and convicts me. Disclaimer: I do not necessarily agree with all the views of these ladies. Also, if you're under the age of 18, you may want to use discretion in what posts you read, as some rather delicate subjects are discussed.

Well, this concludes the first Favorite Friday...and yes, I know it's now Saturday, but it was Friday when I started!!!
